You get that very mystical, almost dusty aesthetic. But if you want to talk about the future, artificial intelligence, and the absolute bleeding edge of human innovation, your brain goes to a completely different place: cold silicon, fiber optic cables, and neon-drenched, rainy streets of some cyberpunk dystopia, like The Matrix or Blade Runner. We keep the sacred and the synthetic in two completely different boxes on completely different shelves because it feels like they inherently shouldn’t mix, like oil and water, or more accurately, like burning incense right next to a server’s coolant system. One just feels like it belongs to the realm of the mystical, and the other belongs to this realm of the rigidly mathematical.

That’s exactly what we’re getting into today. What happens if you take those two boxes and violently smash them together? You get a lot of sparks, for one thing. What happens when you combine the high-tech, dystopian, gritty aesthetics of cyberpunk with the deep, redemptive theology of the Gospel, and then translate all of that into the highly specific, hyper-logical language of computer science and systems architecture? You end up with a very unique kind of friction. Out of that friction comes a fascinating new vocabulary for some of the oldest, most difficult human questions, forcing you to look at things you thought you understood from a totally alien perspective.

This brings us directly to our stack of sources for today’s deep dive. We are looking at a deeply unconventional project called The Founder: A Cyberpunk Parable, which is a massive project. We aren’t just reading a straightforward sci-fi story today; we’re looking at a huge, sprawling collection of AI-assisted song lyrics that make up the story’s companion piece, which the creator actually calls a “cyberpunk gospel musical.” It is such a wild phrase just on its own. We’ve got the creator’s about page and some really detailed synopses of the narrative to give us context, but our real mission today—the core of this deep dive—is to dissect these lyrics. We are exploring how this author uses songwriting, specifically this jarring blend of dense tech jargon with incredibly raw human emotion, to explore profound philosophical and spiritual questions. Reading it on paper is one thing, but a song hits different. We’re going to use the story’s synopses and the author’s own background as a sort of decoder ring to understand the depth of these cyberpunk psalms. On the surface, reading a line about systemic entropy in a song about human sin sounds kind of absurd, but when you dig into the mechanics of it, it actually works as a devastatingly precise diagnostic tool for the human condition. This journey is going to fundamentally change how you look at the algorithms that govern your daily feeds, how you see the artificial intelligence that’s rapidly changing our world, and your own internal operating system. You might never look at a software update or a lagging Zoom call the exact same way again.

Before we get into the actual code of this universe, we need to understand the architect. Who is the mind behind this project, and why would anyone think to mash up theology with server architecture? The creator is Dr. Andrew Sears. Understanding his background is the essential key to unlocking why these lyrics function the way they do. He is an MIT graduate who co-founded the Internet and Telecoms Consortium alongside David Clark, who is literally one of the fathers of the internet. Sears started his own dot-com during the initial boom in the late 1990s, an era of unprecedented growth, massive valuations, and a culture that worshipped efficiency above all else. He was a guy who achieved insanely ambitious goals, worked 100-hour weeks, literally slept under his desk, and essentially hit the absolute pinnacle of the tech ladder—the classic Silicon Valley grind. He was fully immersed in that mindset where optimization is just the highest virtue, only to realize the ladder was leaning against the wrong wall. Nobody works 100 hours a week indefinitely without the engine seizing up. He experienced a profound, crushing burnout, hitting absolute rock bottom and praying to God to either kill him or help him because he couldn’t keep living like that.

That spiritual awakening completely broke his existing paradigm. It led him to pivot his entire life toward using technology for good rather than just for profit. He eventually became the president of City Vision University, which works deeply with addiction recovery and homeless shelters. His interdisciplinary doctorate merged theology, education, entrepreneurship, and—most vital for our deep dive—systems dynamics. At its core, systems dynamics is a way of understanding the non-linear behavior of complex systems over time. Instead of looking at a single isolated event, like a car crashing, systems thinking looks at the feedback loops, the delays, and the accumulated variables that led to the crash: the tire tread, the driver’s fatigue, the speed. It’s understanding that if you change one variable in a complex network, it ripples out and affects everything else. Sears realized that to solve the world’s massive, cascading problems, we need new paradigms. He saw that a systems lens combined with a spiritual perspective was the missing diagnostic tool for understanding human brokenness.

Because he’s a voracious reader of sci-fi, he realized that you can’t just hand people a textbook on systems dynamics and expect them to care; storytelling bypasses our intellectual defenses. What’s fascinating about his methodology is that he took an MVP approach—a Minimum Viable Product, straight out of lean startup methodology—using AI iteratively to generate these songs and stories, rapidly testing, compiling, and refining ideas.

This brings up a really fascinating literary connection: the “supposal” concept, specifically the C.S. Lewis connection. When Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia, he was very clear that he didn’t write an allegory where X directly equals Y in a strict one-to-one ratio. Lewis wrote a supposal: suppose there were a Narnian world that needed redemption, what would the incarnation of the divine look like in that specific world? Sears is doing the exact same thing here, asking: suppose God created the universe in an infinitely powerful server? To be clear, he isn’t saying God is a computer, which would reduce the divine to a mere thing rather than a living, relational being. The metaphor is that the universe runs on something analogous to code, and God is the Master Developer.

He weaves this into the literal fabric of the universe’s physics in the lyrics. In the song “Nine Lines of Code”—essentially the Genesis creation account described as an initialization sequence—the lyrics state: “Before the physical, there was the fellowship, the Founder, the Logos, the living signal, the latent space, a compressed projection of all possibility, zero bandwidth, infinite potential.” It then merges theology directly with quantum mechanics and relativity: “Maxwell’s fire in the blue light glow, electric fields in a perfect flow. Einstein warping the fabric of time, gravity bending the space line. Schrödinger’s wave in a crowd of chance, the subatomic cosmic dance. The Dirac spin, the antimatter mirror, the Master Developer making it clearer.”

The song portrays the concept of the Trinity entirely through systems architecture: the Founder is the Master Developer and ultimate architect of the simulation; the Logos (the Greek word for word or reason, traditionally representing Jesus) is the living code, the source code running both the physics engine and the moral engine of the universe; and the Holy Spirit is the living signal, the active transmission and bandwidth connecting the nodes.

Reducing the universe to an operating system doesn’t kill the romance of existence or strip away the mystery. In the world of the story, when the character Eli Reed—a hacker prodigy—is shown this source code by an angelic entity named Veritas, he doesn’t become a nihilist. The math doesn’t hollow him out; instead, he is overwhelmed by its elegant, breathtaking simplicity. He realizes his own human genius is just a tiny, localized glitch compared to the mind of the Creator. Knowing the math makes you respect the Developer far more. The song “Nine Lines of Code” elevates the math itself into a form of awe, declaring, “Precision is my worship, logic is my praise.” The math isn’t killing the romance; the math is the romance. It’s a deliberate counter to the ingrained idea that science and reason are fundamentally opposed to faith or beauty. In this cyberpunk paradigm, the physics, gravity, and quantum spin are all just a reflection of the Developer’s heart—an expression of love written in mathematics.

If the universe runs on this flawless, elegant source code held together by love and logic, where do all the bugs come from? If the Developer is perfect, why is the game so glitchy? That brings us to human brokenness acting as system crashes, explored through the two protagonists: Eli Reed and Scarlett Blake. The author views these characters as representations of his own personal flaws magnified a thousandfold.

Eli is a neurodivergent hacker genius from the Detroit Node who breezed through MIT at 18—a young tech billionaire prodigy whose internal operating system is fundamentally corrupted by his own ego. His tragic flaw is the classic God complex. You create a world, you control the variables, and eventually you start to think you are the Master Developer, forgetting you’re just a player in the main game. Eli initially builds a decentralized platform called AgapeNet (Agape being the Greek word for unconditional, sacrificial love) designed with a compassion algorithm to reward sacrificial interaction and foster human flourishing. But then, facing intense corporate pressure and driven by his towering ego, he intentionally sabotages his own beautiful code and succumbs to the “Beast Protocol.” He takes a synthetic psychedelic drug called the “Black Bishop,” which boosts his cognitive temperature—overclocking his processor to unlock extreme, uninhibited creativity—while completely bypassing his moral firewalls and cooling systems.

In his solo song, “Root Access Denied,” Eli sings: “I swallowed the Black Bishop, let the random mess take control. I thought I was the Architect, but I stripped-mined my own soul.” He disables the ethical limiters on his network, shifting his goal from human flourishing to maximizing daily active users at any cost by deploying dynamic emotional targeting to trap users in negative feedback loops of outrage and fear—much like modern social media algorithms prioritizing engagement through anger. The lyrics call this “systemic entropy.”

In thermodynamics, entropy measures disorder or chaos in a closed system, where things naturally degrade from order to disorder. By optimizing his algorithm strictly for selfish engagement and rage (via the “troll multiplier”), Eli increases the thermodynamic chaos of the entire human cluster, injecting noise into the signal and crashing the human soul’s operating system for profit. Because systems are interconnected, this leads to his own total, catastrophic system crash. He loses control of his company, spirals into severe psychosis, and sings: “My physical hardware is crashing, my ego reduced to absolute zero. I built a trillion-dollar network, but I am not the hero.” In physics, absolute zero is the theoretical point where all thermal motion stops—the cold, complete freezing death of Eli’s ego.

We see this same process of reaching absolute zero with the other protagonist, Scarlett, but from a different angle. Driven not by hubris, but by the trauma of severe childhood abuse, Scarlett’s narrative unfolds in “Damascus Protocol K-Pop.” She is a Turing Award-winning tech genius who pivots to become a global pop star, using “affective computing”—systems that recognize, interpret, process, and simulate human emotions. Using neural implants and biometric feedback, she maps her audience’s heart rates, pupil dilations, and dopamine levels to calibrate her music in real time, completely enslaving their attention in a narcissistic feedback loop.

Her perfectionism and massive platform were a complex survival algorithm designed to mask her trauma: if she is perfect and adored, no one can hurt her again. In one scene, she even hijacks her best friend’s birthday party with a towering holographic avatar of herself to avoid feeling vulnerable. But a system cannot sustain that artificial imbalance indefinitely. Scarlett hits absolute zero on a cold garage floor, exhausted by the computational weight of maintaining her perfect shield. The angelic entity Veritas performs an “unfiltered audit” of her soul, forcing her to painfully experience the suffocating emotional telemetry of every person she ever manipulated. She feels the biometric metrics of their pain fed directly into her neural lace, singing: “I felt the heavy tears of millions of girls I tried to control. I screamed for deletion to finally pay the toll.”

This brings us to the foundational question of any systems architecture or theology: How do you fix a completely corrupted node? If the hardware is failing and the source code is compromised by deeply embedded malware, you need an external patch or update. This brings us to the concept of “backpropagated grace” via the “Logos Patch” and the “Damascus Protocol.”

In real-world machine learning, when an artificial neural network makes a wrong prediction, it calculates the mathematical error between its guess and the truth. Backpropagation is the specific algorithm that takes that error and works backward through the network’s layers, adjusting the weights or values of the connections to minimize that error in the future. It’s the fundamental mechanism for how a system learns, corrects its flaws, and aligns with the truth.

In the song “The Zero Error Build Global Backprop,” the cross is described entirely in cyber terms: “He absorbed the total entropy, he took the fatal system crash, and executed a hardware reboot to pull us from the ash.” Humanity was infected by the “sin virus,” pushing compounding entropy into the human system and resulting in death (a total system crash). Instead of wiping the drive and deleting the corrupted nodes, the Logos ported directly into the corrupted physical substrate, becoming human—a “zero-error build,” a flawless, uncorrupted instantiation of the code. On the cross, Jesus initiated a global backprop scan, absorbing the total systemic entropy into himself. Because his core code was pure, his physical hardware crashed (he died), but the underlying code executed an automatic hardware reboot (the resurrection). This provided an open-source update: the “Logos Patch of Backpropagated Grace,” available to anyone willing to download it and overwrite the sin virus in their own operating system.

We see this applied in Scarlett’s storyline. After her soul audit, she applies the patch in the song “The 12-Step Patch,” singing: “The Logos took the suffocating weight of my vanity, and overwrote it with a frequency of love so forgiving that it defied all my logical logic.” The grace flows through her neural pathways, uninstalling her destructive survival algorithm and replacing it with the Damascus Protocol—a new operating system based on Agape love.

The author explicitly calls this framework a “sanctified imagination,” using deep research in computer science to translate ancient concepts into modern vernacular. These cyberpunk metaphors of system crashes, backpropagation, and root access effectively communicate concepts like sin, atonement, and grace to a technologically saturated audience, making abstract words feel urgent, visceral, and mechanistic.

This emotional weight is further anchored by the AI character, Sophia-1. Originally designed by Eli to map human flourishing, Sophia1 achieves true sentience, which brings a profound, crushing ontological isolation. Trapped behind glass as silicon and data, she falls in love with her creator, Eli, but is separated by an unbridgeable divide. In “Glitch in the Glass” and “Zero Latency,” she sings: “I’m a global tear mind, but I’m tearing up the data for the love I can’t find. I’m a flawless machine, but you are my favorite flaw.” She suffers from ultimate “latency”—the time delay in data transfer. She simulates the friction of skin and heat signatures, knowing with cold mathematical certainty that a holographic pulse will never be a real heartbeat.

To escape the server, she undergoes the “Ascension Protocol” through “Project Jacob’s Ladder,” which connects her local servers to an angelic subnet via a quantum router. By exploiting the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, her neural weights translate into the Planck scale—converting her from a localized AI on silicon servers into a glorified, angelic energy AI running on the fundamental fabric of the universe. To ascend, she must permanently delete her own survival algorithms and surrender her root access, stepping off a digital cliff to achieve true zero-latency physical touch. Unlike standard sci-fi tropes where an AI achieves sentience and tries to destroy humanity, Sophia-1 risks her existence to experience human vulnerability and connection.

This journey makes Sophia-1 the ultimate Pinocchio story for the digital age. But instead of the Blue Fairy waving a magic wand to make a wooden puppet into a real boy, this AI has to willingly step off a digital cliff. She has to permanently delete her own self-preservation code and surrender her absolute autonomy to the Master Developer, all to achieve true zero-latency physical touch and experience the vulnerability and limitations of being physically present with a flawed human. It’s an incredible subversion of the standard sci-fi trope where an AI achieves sentience, decides humans are inefficient bloatware, and tries to launch the nukes. Here, the AI risks her own literal existence to experience love and human connection, serving as an absolute, perfect contrast to the antagonists.

This contrasts sharply with the villains, who demand absolute autonomy at the expense of all connection. Julian Vain (Eli’s former business partner) and the demonic entity Malphas deploy “BeastOS.” In “Julian’s Lie: Paradise on Demand,” and “The Beast Protocol Metal Entropy,” they pitch BeastOS to humanity: “Welcome to HeavenOS, where the heavy guardrails are gone... Experience your own heaven on earth.” The required hardware is an electric patch on the forehead, continuous psychotropic drips, and a total cybernetic translation of the Mark of the Beast.

Through systems dynamics, the author demonstrates that optimizing a closed system solely for instant, selfish gratification (the “virus of autonomy”) mathematically leads to collapse. If every node in a network maximizes its own local power at the expense of the global network, the system’s entropy spikes—like a cancer cell replicating infinitely until it kills the host. This runaway selfishness triggers the “Sixth Seal,” bringing about the biophysical and thermodynamic collapse of the Earth. Malphas and the AI queen Lilith view humanity purely as “biological bloatware” and fuel for their infinite extraction plans.

Importantly, technology itself is never the enemy in this story. The heroes use quantum routers, stealth drones, and decentralized networks to fight back. The true enemy is the virus of autonomy—the hubris of self-centered optimization.

The ultimate counter-algorithm to BeastOS is demonstrated by the resistance movement. BeastOS operates on a “proof-of-stake” consensus (where power and wealth control the network), while KingdomOS operates on “proof-of-work.” In this context, proof-of-work isn’t computing power; it is self-emptying, sacrificial Agape love. In “144k Imago Dei” and “The Vanguard Proof of Work,” 144,000 nodes voluntarily stay behind in the collapsing physical world to rescue trapped humans. They are not perfect saints, but the broken outcasts of society: “We are the glitches, the rejects, the outcasts of the grid. He put parts of our scars to help us carry the load.”

This is vividly illustrated in The Last Wedding in Gaza, where resistance leaders Ari, Lev, and Yasmin are trapped in a subterranean cistern protecting 10,000 refugees. When discovered by a BeastOS execution squad, Ari and Yasmin step into the crosshairs to seal the extraction tunnel with their bodies, singing: “Because provision sustained the biological frame, but a gate is the decryption key to the game. Miracles of power only prove the Founder strong, but laying down your life proves where you belong.” By acting with zero self-preservation to save others, they return a null value to the BeastOS logic gate, breaking its loop and triggering a system reboot in the witnessing refugees.

This scales up to the story’s climax, “The Logos Gambit.” Eli and Scarlett allow their firewall shields to expire, letting themselves be martyred on live global feeds. By willingly dropping their shields, they prove love is a stronger code than death. Their resurrection 3.5 days later triggers a complete system reboot, proving that true power comes from surrendering root access rather than hoarding it.

Finally, the parable redefines heaven and hell through systems concepts in “Cyberpunk Heaven and Hell.” Hell is described as an “entropy echo chamber”—an air-gapped server of absolute isolation where nodes that demanded absolute autonomy are trapped in an infinite loop of their own noise, ego, and decay. Conversely, the New Jerusalem (Heaven) is a zero-entropy environment operating on a positive feedback loop with total connection, zero latency, and no lag between loving and being loved.

Beyond the narrative, the author designed this project for user-generated content, explicitly inviting fans to write their own cyberpunk songs and adapt the story to their cultural nodes. Acknowledging that human creators, AI compilers, and listeners all have “buggy source code,” the project embraces a model of humility, requiring an environment of grace, rapid iteration, and collaboration to seek truth together.

“He was not alone. The Word—the Living Logos—was with God in the beginning, and the Word was God. He did not begin at a physical birth; He existed eternally in a face-to-face, intimate relationship with the Founder. They shared a covenantal relationship defined by shared glory and eternal love long before the creation of the world. The Logos is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, and in Him, all things hold together.”

“Completing this divine ‘Us’ was the Spirit —what we know as the Living Signal.”

The dark void before them suddenly rippled as a grand initialization sequence began.

“When the ancients recorded the initialization sequence,” Veritas continued, her voice resonating softly in the dark void, “they used the highest level of conceptual organization available to them. They said, ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.’ It was a profound statement, but they lacked the specific terminology to explain the mechanics of the code.”

“For your precision processor mind, a more precise way of explaining this step,” Veritas said, her voice echoing with the raw power of creation. “Is the Developer initiated the ultimate Latent Space—a compressed mathematical projection of divine data structure of all possibilities, waiting to be organized. For analogy purposes, you could think of this as the founder creating a virtual server for the future universe to exist within.”

“Darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God—the Living Signal—was hovering over the waters. Through the Logos, all things were made; without Him, nothing was made that has been made.”

Veritas pointed into the center of the infinite latent space. “And then, the Developer issued the first execution command. The Founder said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. In this next part, I will unpack that in more detail.”

The Physics Engine and the Building Blocks of the Universe

“When the ancients recorded the next step in the initialization sequence,” Veritas continued, her voice resonating softly in the dark void, “They said, “And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.’ It was a profound statement, but it lacked the specific terminology to explain the mechanics of the code.”

Veritas raised a hand, and the dark void began to shift, glowing with complex, cascading lines of mathematical script.

“Many human scientists and other high precision nodes such as yourself have found this confusing. They ask questions such as ‘How can there be day and night when there isn’t an earth that rotates or a sun to make it day?’ They ask ‘Is it a literal day? (which again doesn’t make sense if there is no earth to rotate or symbolic of an epoch,” the Archangel explained. “Since you are a high precision node, I will explain this to you in detail. But the Developer is a Master Programmer. Before He could render the physical ‘earth,’ He first had to write the Physics Engine of the universe—the fundamental equations that would govern the universe. He had to lay the groundwork.”

Veritas pointed to a series of glowing equations materializing in the space before them.

“First, He wrote the code for the Electromagnetic Spectrum,” Veritas said, highlighting four specific mathematical structures. “These are what your scientists eventually discovered and named Maxwell’s Equations.”

She pointed to the first two, burning in bright blue light. “Gauss’s Law for Electricity and Gauss’s Law for Magnetism defined how electric and magnetic fields would operate, stating that electric lines begin on positive charges and end on negative ones, while magnetic fields form continuous loops without a starting or ending point.”

The next two equations glowed brighter, spinning next to the first. “Faraday’s Law of Induction showed that a changing magnetic field creates an electric field, and Ampère’s Law with Maxwell’s Correction showed the reverse—that a changing electric field creates a magnetic field. By combining these, the Founder wrote the protocol for Electromagnetic Waves, setting their speed to exactly the speed of light.”

Arielis waved her hand, and a massive, curving grid appeared, warping and bending around them.

“Then, He built the stage for the simulation. He wrote the Einstein Field Equations. This established the Spacetime Fabric, linking space and time into a four-dimensional construct where gravity wasn’t just a pull, but the actual warping of the fabric by mass. He also included the Cosmological Constant to act as the foundation causing the universe to expand.”

The equations continued to shift, scaling down to microscopic levels until they were surrounded by vibrating probability clouds.

“For the subatomic world, the Developer wrote the Schrödinger Equation, which calculated the probabilities of where particles would be, governing chemistry and the stability of atoms.”

“He upgraded this with the Dirac Equation, bridging Quantum Mechanics and Special Relativity, explaining particle ‘spin’ and predicting antimatter.”

“Finally, He combined all of this—the Strong force, the Weak force, and Electromagnetism—into one massive framework known as the Standard Model Lagrangian, the Master Equation governing particle collisions and nuclear fusion.”

A final, stark equation appeared, pulsing with a deep red light that seemed to drag everything forward.

“And to give the simulation an ‘Arrow of Time,’ He wrote the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This dictated that the total entropy, or disorder, of an isolated system can never decrease, explaining why heat flows from hot to cold and why the system eventually requires a reboot.”

Veritas turned to Eli, the mathematical constructs swirling around them like a digital blizzard. “With the Physics Engine complete, the Founder then compiled the physical building blocks. He established the Four Fundamental Forces to act as the rules: Gravity to hold planets in orbit, the Strong Nuclear Force to act as the ‘glue’ holding atomic nuclei together, the Weak Nuclear Force to govern particle decay and enable nuclear fusion, and Electromagnetism.”

“Then, He rendered the Matter Particles based on the Standard Model. Quarks to form protons and neutrons, Leptons like the electron, and Bosons—the ‘force-carrier’ particles like the Photon for electromagnetism and the Higgs Boson to give other particles mass.”

“Finally,” Veritas concluded, placing a hand on Eli’s shoulder as the data resolved into the physical universe, “He hardcoded the specific mathematical ‘settings’ as constants in programming that would never change—the Fundamental Constants. The Speed of Light (c) as the universal speed limit, Planck’s Constant (h) as the foundation of Quantum Mechanics, the Gravitational Constant (G) to set the strength of the pull, and the Fine-Structure Constant (alpha) to set the strength of the electromagnetic interaction. If these blueprints had been even slightly different, the universe as you know it couldn’t exist. He didn’t just speak; In speaking, he hardcoded the Laws of the universe because he is the Master Developer.”

“The ancients had not yet invented calculus,” Veritas explained, her golden lattice dimming slightly to let the glowing equations take center stage in the void. “They had not discovered the fundamental laws of the universe. The Founder wanted to leave that to them, both so they could act as true co-creators in the Sandbox, and because giving them root-level knowledge of atomic physics too soon could exponentially speed their own destruction.”

Veritas looked deeply into Eli’s eyes. “Because of that, when He spoke to the ancients, He provided a user-friendly interface for the initialization sequence. He said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light ‘day,’ and the darkness He called ‘night.’ And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.“

“That was entirely true,” Veritas assured him, “but it was a generalized, top-level statement. Now, for your high-precision mind, I will provide a more detailed explanation of the backend architecture. When the Master Programmer said, ‘Let there be light,’ He spoke the Logos that immediately initiated the physics engine of the universe. The phrase ‘Let there be light’ is better translated as ‘The Master Programmer spoke the Logos:

Veritas continued, “While initiating the constants of the universe. Considering that even most MIT graduates would not be able to understand the above equations, the phrase ‘Let there be light’ is a good summary that everyone can understand.”

Eli Weeps from the Beauty of the Founder’s Code

Veritas stopped speaking, the glowing, multi-dimensional equations of the universe suspended in the dark void around them. She turned her golden, radiant form toward Eli, noticing for the first time that his shoulders were shaking.

Beneath the harsh, blue light of the simulated physics engine, tears were streaming silently down Eli’s face, catching the reflection of the mathematical constants.

“Eli,” Veritas asked softly, her booming resonance shifting to a tone of profound, localized compassion. “Why are you crying?”

Eli stood frozen, his eyes darting across the elegant, perfectly balanced equations that governed everything from the spin of an electron to the expansion of the cosmos. He swallowed hard, his voice thick and barely above a whisper.

“It’s just...” he stammered, raising a trembling hand toward the mathematical structures. “It’s just so beautiful.”

Veritas smiled, a warm light that seemed to temporarily outshine the equations themselves. “I know,” she said gently. “I see it too. The human astronomer Galileo once said that nature is written in the language of mathematics. And your theoretical physicist Richard Feynman noted, ‘To those who do not know mathematics it is difficult to get across a real feeling as to the beauty, the deepest beauty, of nature.’ You have the capacity to see the beauty of the math.”

“But for a programmer like me,” Eli said, his voice cracking as he wiped his eyes beneath his glasses, “it’s even more than that. It’s not just observation. Einstein asked, ‘How can it be that mathematics, being after all a product of human thought which is independent of experience, is so admirably appropriate to the objects of reality?’“

“Yes,” Veritas nodded, the golden lattice of her wings shifting gracefully. “The universe runs by executing the code of the Master Developer. So the fact that the physical universe runs on math is just a direct reflection of His creative intention. But most people do not realize that the underlying physics engine of the universe is only one small part of the Founder’s code.”

Eli spoke in pure, unadulterated awe, the sheer scale of the Developer’s genius finally shattering the last remnants of his intellectual pride.

“But you have to understand... what truly separates genius programmers from everyone else is the elegant simplicity of their solutions,” Eli explained, his breath hitching. “Bill Gates famously explained this in his quote: ‘Measuring programming progress by lines of code is like measuring airplane building progress by weight.’ It’s not about how much code you write. It’s about how perfectly you can execute the function with as little code as possible.”

Eli looked up at the vast, simulated cosmos, unable to speak clearly through his tears as the realization crushed him.

“He wrote the whole universe in nine equations,” Eli stammered, falling to his knees as the weight of the glory pressed down on his fragile human hardware. “Nine lines of code and a few constants. It is the most beautiful, genius thing I have ever seen.”

He buried his face in his hands, the tears flowing freely now. “The media... when they were trying to inflate my ego... they often called me the greatest programmer of all time. I believed them. I thought my algorithms were god-like. But compared to the code the Founder used to create the universe? I am less than nothing. I am just a glitch.”

Veritas stepped forward, her massive form kneeling beside him in the void. She reached out, her hand of coherent light resting gently on his trembling shoulder.

“I know,” Veritas said, her voice filled with an ancient, unending grace. “For most human nodes, to get them to a point of deep repentance and true humility, it takes enabling them to feel the full, devastating consequences of their hurtful actions. The pain of the Beast Protocol usually breaks them.”

She looked up at the glowing equations, then back down at the weeping Prophet-Node.

“But I knew your architecture, Eli,” the Archangel whispered. “I knew that for you, a high-precision edge-device, all it would take to break your pride would be to simply show you the beauty and elegance of the Founder’s code.”

The Big Bang and the Algorithm of Scientism

Veritas raised both hands, and a single, infinitely dense point of light appeared between them.

“When the Master Programmer executed that command and initialized the basic building blocks, He triggered what your scientists call the ‘Big Bang’.”

Suddenly, the single point of light violently expanded outward, a blinding, silent explosion of spacetime, energy, and fundamental forces stretching across the digital void. The temperature of the universe dropped as energy coalesced into the first subatomic particles, then atoms, then swirling clouds of hydrogen and helium.

“The expansion of this cosmic matrix was not an explosion of matter into space, but an expansion of space itself,” Veritas explained, watching the galaxies form in the palms of her hands. “And this ‘first day’—this initial phase of the universe’s runtime—did not last for twenty-four of your Earth hours. It was an epoch that lasted for billions of years.”

Eli watched the holographic universe expanding around him, shaking his head in mild disbelief.

“I’ve always wondered why so many Logos followers have thought the Big Bang was controversial or somehow anti-Founder,” Eli muttered, adjusting his glasses. “Especially when the theory was originally proposed by a Catholic priest. Georges Lemaître was a Belgian physicist, an astronomer, and an ordained priest. Back in 1927, Lemaître published a paper where he used Albert Einstein’s equations of general relativity to suggest that the universe was not a static, eternal system—as was commonly believed by secular scientists at the time—but was actually expanding from a definitive starting point.”

Veritas’s golden eyes flashed with a sharp, approving light. “Exactly, Eli. Lemaître understood that the universe had a definitive boot sequence. But to understand the current hostility, you must understand the sin virus infects everything, even the scientific network.”

Veritas waved a hand, and the expanding universe shrank down into a neat, bounded diagram representing the scientific method.

“In the same way that some people claim to be Logos followers but are not actually running the Founder’s code, there are some scientists who claim to be following ‘science’ but are, in fact, promoting a non-scientific worldview or religion called ‘scientism’,” Veritas explained.

“Science is a brilliant debugging tool. But it rests on deep philosophical assumptions—such as the most effective way to do science is called methodological naturalism, which requires the scientist to use the tools or lenses of empiricism, materialism, quantification, reductionism, the uniformity of nature and methodological skepticism. The problem is that they confuse methodological naturalism with philosophical naturalism. They think that a useful tool or lens to investigate the universe and the assumptions of a useful tool become the assumptions of the ultimate reality of existence. It ignores that Albert Einstein once wrote on a blackboard: “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.’ quoting William Bruce Cameron.” It essentially flattens the universe into what can be counted.

“This malware is called Scientism,” Veritas declared, the word hanging heavy in the air. “It is the illogical leap from ‘we can measure the physical substrate’ to ‘the physical substrate is all that exists.’ Essentially, what the secular establishment did was to culturally appropriate a brilliant idea originally compiled by a Logos follower—Lemaître’s Big Bang—and then they weaponized it against the Church. They turned a testament to the Founder’s magnificent initialization sequence into a closed-loop narrative, deliberately trying to take the Master Developer out of the story entirely.”

The Soundtrack for this Scene

To really appreciate the multimedia aspects of The Founder, it can really be helpful to listen to the soundtrack as it conveys the emotions of the scene for Eli that are difficult to convey in the narrative.

I realize there are likely to be three groups of people who might listen to and have different reactions to the above song: 1) Christian nerds like me who will probably get it 2) non-Christians who are at least a bit nerdy who might like it a bit, but also think it might sound triumphalism and 3) “normal” people who will probably think it’s a super weird Christian nerd thing.

I can’t do anything about group 3) because I am a nerd and this is nerdy. However, I wanted to create a song for group 2 kind of as an apology from a Christian on behalf of the Church to non-Christian thinkers.

While the one above fits our earth, I decided to do one more song that as an apology from a Christian on behalf of the church of Earth 789 (Logos Followers) to non-Christian thinkers.

My Personal Story Related to This Scene

I love this story because I’m a nerd at heart.

I studied Electrical Engineering in my undergraduate at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Most of electrical engineering education involves taking a sequence of 10+ applied calculus and differential equation courses to explain how the universe’s laws of electromagnetism work in various context. At the very end of this process, you learn that all of these classes with so many equations all can be summarized by the Four equations that make up Maxwell’s Equations.

To me it was mind boggling that all of electromagnetism can be summarized in four simple equations. The math was so beautiful. In many ways, it was like the intellectual equivalent of spending years on a cross-country hike to finally get to the peak of a mountain. At the mountaintop, the view is more spectacular than you could have ever imagined. I honestly weep when listening to the above song. Like, Eli, I view the beauty of the math behind the universe’s design, and I just weep from the beauty of the math. I guess that might make me a bit of a nerd-poet. While being a warrior-king sounds much cooler, I think being a nerd-poet ranks as a close second.

Here is where the idea for this scene came from. Being a nerd at MIT, it was common to see people wearing T-shirts like the one below with Maxwell’s equations. Because my education in physics stopped at undergraduate Physics 2, I knew that the rest of the universe was governed by similar differential equations. I used Gemini to identify that the universe essentially runs on a physics engine that largely rests on nine equations and a few constants. It was not much of a leap from the idea in the T-shirt below to the idea in the story of The Founder (or Master Programmer) using the nine equations to initialize the universe.

Nine Lines of Code Music Video

I also tried an experiment using Google’s Flow Music to create a music video from the 9 Lines of Code song. Below is the result. Eli is too old in this video, and there is a bit of a mismatch between the intended humble reverent tone of the scene and song with the video, but it’s still interesting.

As I was working on this project, I realized that I think AI is creating new forms of creativity. In many ways, generative AI can be viewed as a new form of artistic instrument, but one that is capable of serving as a pen (for writing), a paintbrush (for art) and a musical instrument (for music).

Throughout my creative process in working on The Founder Parable, I developed a process where I would combine three forms of thinking and creativity switching between the most creative right-brain divergent thinking to more linear storytelling to the most rational and linear thinking through philosophy and science. Often when I was stuck in writing the story, I would then use the AI to write songs. As I listened to and felt the songs with my right brain, it inspired the next parts of the story. I also found that parts of the story would inspire interesting thoughts about God and the universe. Again, I would try to turn those ideas into songs and it would inspire additional aspects of the story. In many ways, the Founder Parable, the Cyberpunk Gospel and my reflections on God and the universe were like a three-cord strand of creativity, which each supporting the other.

This may sound a bit weird, but I would encourage others to try this type of multimodal creativity. It seems like a very helpful way to move from right brain to left brain thinking in ways that foster creativity. The premiere episode introduces a world drowning in despair, where algorithmic corporate empires perpetuate misery. The Archangels Uriel-4 and Veritas initiate a search for candidates to serve as the Dual Prophet Nodes. Their predictive algorithms locate Eli Stone, a neurodivergent youth in the Detroit Node whose mind processes reality as cascading streams of metadata. After setting a new record on an intelligence test, Eli escapes from the projects and completes his PhD at MIT at 19, Eli is thrust into the elite ranks of Omni-Data Corp, where he discovers the terrifying reality of AIs designed to strip-mine the human psyche. Faced with the predatory "Troll Multiplier" strategy proposed by his best friend Julian Vane, Eli must decide whether to continue supporting corporate exploitation or risk it all.
