As I was working on this project, I realized that I think AI is enabling new forms of creativity. In many ways, generative AI can be viewed as a new form of artistic instrument, but one that is capable of serving as a pen (for writing), a paintbrush (for art), a musical instrument (for music), etc.
Throughout my creative process in working on The Founder Parable, I developed a process where I would combine three forms of thinking and creativity switching between the most creative right-brain divergent thinking to more linear storytelling to the most rational and linear thinking through philosophy and science. Often when I was stuck in writing the story, I would then use the AI to write songs. As I listened to and felt the songs with my right brain, it inspired the next parts of the story. I also found that parts of the story would inspire interesting thoughts about God and the universe. Again, I would try to turn those ideas into songs and it would inspire additional aspects of the story. In many ways, the Founder Parable, the Cyberpunk Gospel and my substack Finding Jesus in STEM were like a three-cord strand of creativity, which each supporting the other.
This may sound a bit weird, but I would encourage others to try this type of multimodal creativity. It seems like a very helpful way to move from right brain to left brain thinking in ways that foster creativity.
